What it is

Maid is for anyone who wants to chat with local models on Android without being locked to a single runtime. It bridges to a remote Ollama server over LAN or VPN, but also embeds llama.cpp directly on the phone for small models like Llama 3.2 3B Q4. The Flutter UI is functional but less polished than Enchanted on iOS, and on-device mode is strictly for tiny models—anything larger needs a server. If you need a single app that works across Android, iOS, Linux, Windows, and macOS, and you're comfortable with a slightly rougher interface, Maid delivers. Just don't expect it to run a 7B model on your phone.

✓ Strengths

  • +On-device + remote-server modes
  • +Open-source MIT

△ Caveats

  • −Flutter UI doesn't feel as polished as Enchanted on iOS
  • −On-device mode only viable for tiny models
